What
about moisture and mildew under the cover?
The covers must be ventilated to eliminate moisture and condensation.
Our vents allow cross flow ventilation throughout the cover minimising the chances of excess moisture and
condensation. Normal winterising procedures
are needed such as leaving open cabins to stimulate ventilation and
raising or removing seat cushions. A dehumidifier is recommended to
avoid the problem.
Can
the heat from the propane heat gun cause damage?
Skilled operatives in accordance with the directions of Boatwrap must
use the Shrinkfast propane-fired appliance.
Heat is swept over the cover as if spray painting and is never focussed on one spot long enough to damage vinyl
graphics, paint, gel coat, wood etc. The shrink-wrap will become thin
and holes will appear before enough heat is transferred to damage the
covered item.
How
do I repair a tear or holes in the cover?
If it is a small hole you can repair it with the shrink-wrap tape we
supply. Alternatively, call us back and we
will heat shrink a patch repair free of charge if covered by our
warranty terms. Otherwise a call out charge will be quoted for
materials, labour and travel.
Is
there a way I can get into the cover during the storage season?
Yes! Zipper access doors are taped onto the cover where required after
the cover is heat shrunk. The air draft can be raised to facilitate
maintenance if specified in the quotation.
What
do I do with my shrink-wrap in the spring after I remove it?
Simply cut it off and compress into polythene bin bags. Call us and we
will collect and deliver to a local recycling firm.
In
what condition must I hand over the boat for wrapping?
The air draft should be reduced by lowering antenna or GPS poles,
fenders stowed and tender removed.
Must
I clean the boat?
Good maintenance practice requires the boat be wash down to remove salt
water and other corrosive elements before covering.
